About:

TCIC is an experimental horror game in which you have to explore a strange Russian cave and collect garbage. The game is made with an emphasis on oppressive atmosphere, fear of the unknown, claustrophobia and sound design, so headphones are recommended.

The game also provides a story, which is presented through notes. There are a total of 39 of them.

This is my first game project, created by solo student in spare time and was originally created under the impressions of my first descent into a cave, where there was absolute darkness and crushing silence, and what guided us was a small paper map downloaded from the internet and flashlights.

All 3D models are handmade, except for those mentioned in the game. Ambience and sound design mixed by me with the use of samples of other creators from freesounds.org. Visual effects are also made by hand.

Game also have 2 endings.

Story:

One summer you decided to visit your grandfather in the Russian village.

It turns out that one of the tourist attractions of the place is a large cave system. It sounds fascinating, but there's been a lot of littering there lately. At your grandpa's request, you decide to go down with a trash bag and clean up the place, at the same time exploring the cave.

Will you stop at picking up trash or will you go deeper into the cave in the hope of finding something interesting?

Unsettling atmosphere with a mix of decent storytelling and exceptional sound design - solid game.

I was very impressed by the design. The map, the overall caves system was well put together. I especially enjoyed the storytelling with notes and was really intrigued about the monster and what really happened there.

My major complaint about the game is the intro sequence, which was unnecessary and didn't really contribute to the story withing the game. I mean the grandfather's "speech" and exposition. I think the player should have a minor backstory and after we jump into the cave the game should start.

Overall, can't wait to see your next game and definitely recommending this to all. Best of luck!

Thank you for not just playing, but making a video of my game as well. And most importantly thank you for your criticism. I'll drop some details here.

The most important thing is the intro. I'll tell you right away - I'm not a good programmer and even though I can follow the logic of the algorithm, it's sometimes hard for me to understand all the functions of the engine. At the same time, during the development I practiced video editing and it was something I was confident in. So I wanted to improve the overall quality of the game by putting in the game things I know how to create.

The second reason for this intro is a small tutorial. I like the concept in games of being thrown into the most uncomfortable conditions and not being led by the hand, but instead saying “Come on, try to figure out how this world works.” and in the video it could be implemented quite well due to the fact that the video ends quickly and you don't have time to memorize some rules of the game.

In the end I will say thank you so much for developing games and making videos of other developers' games. People like you are just lifesavers for small developers.

Also played Hollow Sight, really liked the visual style from the start and the sound design was very nice too. Had goosebumps at the end.

What a great comment! Thanks a lot. I really, genuinely enjoyed the game.
Wish you all the best with the future games. Definitely have a huge potential and you will learn with time, I believe in that.
Cheers! (With 2 glasses of Kissel lmao)

Damn... Sorry about that. The crouching is basically like “take a chance, but there are no guarantees” button.

Thank you very much for the review and i'll fix this self-destruction issue

Great Game! I realy like in it this Russian Vibe of caves. this gives this game more consistency in terms of its horror component. Instead of dumb screamers, we get a fairly focused on learning the history of the local lore, and it's really cool. The game has two endings with two fully open endings, sorry for my topology. Without spoilers, to be honest, of course there are a couple of comments about the saddest ending and about its relative logic, but in general, I don't really want to dig into it, so everything is fine.

To sum up, I would like to note that the game uses really interesting and unusual techniques, and it was quite able to surprise me at first, so I definitely like it.
